Our client is a well-established commercial glass and glazing subcontractor operating across the Northwestern United States. They deliver large-scale exterior packages—including both Division 7 and Division 8 scopes—for new construction and renovation projects. Position Overview:
The Chief Operating Officer will lead all operational functions with a focus on improving execution, strengthening processes, and developing future leaders. This person will work closely with ownership to refine organizational structure, implement company-wide SOPs, and position the business for continued expansion. The ideal candidate brings experience running operations for a small to mid-sized specialty contractor and thrives in a hands-on, people-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day operations across project management, field execution, and support functions

Implement standardized processes, workflows, and operating procedures

Build and mentor a high-performing operations team, including PMs, field leaders, and support staff

Support strategic planning, annual budgeting, and performance forecasting

Strengthen scheduling, cost controls, reporting, and project delivery consistency

Partner with leadership on growth initiatives, new market opportunities, and organizational development

Drive accountability, communication, and alignment across all departments

Evaluate current systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability
Qualifications:

10+ years of operational leadership experience in commercial construction or specialty subcontracting

Proven success leading operations for a company in the ~$20M–$50M annual revenue range

Strong background in organizational improvement, process implementation, and team development

Track record of scaling operations, refining SOPs, and elevating project delivery performance

Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills

Ability to relocate to or regularly be present in the Northwestern U.S. region

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
Day-to-Day:

Lead operations meetings and provide guidance to PMs, field supervisors, and department heads

Review project performance metrics and address schedule, cost, or staffing challenges

Collaborate with ownership on strategic priorities and long-term growth planning

Work closely with internal teams to refine workflows, documentation, and training materials

Support hiring, onboarding, and the development of operational staff

Monitor company-wide communication and ensure alignment between field and office

Serve as a steady leadership presence, providing mentorship and hands-on support where needed
