About the Client:

Our client is a respected commercial roofing contractor based in Delran, NJ, known for delivering high-quality roofing solutions across the Mid-Atlantic. Their portfolio spans new construction, re-roofing, and restoration projects for industrial, institutional, and commercial clients. With a reputation for precision estimating and long-term client relationships, they continue to set the standard for technical excellence and integrity in the commercial roofing industry.

Position Overview:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, takeoffs, and proposals for commercial roofing projects. This role requires a deep understanding of roofing systems, manufacturer guidelines, and construction methods. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and organizational skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines independently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review bid invitations, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope

• Perform detailed takeoffs for various roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, Modified Bitumen, Built-Up, and Metal

• Analyze project requirements and prepare accurate cost estimates and proposals

• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing

• Ensure all estimates comply with manufacturer specifications and installation requirements

• Collaborate with project managers and field teams during preconstruction and handoff phases

• Maintain organized records of bid documents, revisions, and submitted proposals

• Track bid results and follow up with clients to build ongoing relationships

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience estimating commercial roofing projects

• Bachelor’s degree in a math, engineering, or construction discipline preferred but not required

• In-depth knowledge of commercial roof systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, Modified Bitumen, BUR, Torch, Shingle, Standing Seam Metal, and Coatings

• Familiarity with leading manufacturer systems such as GAF, Elevate, Johns Manville, IKO, Carlisle, Sika Sarnafil, Flex, Tremco, Garland, Versico, and Siplast

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and Adobe Acrobat

• Skilled in RoofCAD and capable of interpreting detailed architectural and engineering drawings

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and high attention to detail

• Exceptionally organized and able to manage multiple projects and priorities

• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Day-to-Day:

• Analyze architectural drawings and project specifications to determine materials and scope

• Perform precise takeoffs and build detailed cost breakdowns

• Communicate with vendors to confirm material pricing and availability

• Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and deliver them within deadlines

• Coordinate with PMs and estimators to ensure seamless preconstruction planning

• Participate in pre-bid meetings and assist with value engineering discussions

• Maintain up-to-date estimating data and assist leadership with budgeting forecasts

Compensation & Benefits:

• $75,000–$140,000 base salary (commensurate with experience) + performance-based bonus
